Left Over Pizza Idea

Here's a great idea for you. Did you order pizza last night? Peel the leftover toppings off, sautee them, and add eggs for a delicious omlet. Even better, scramble the eggs with the toppings and wraps them into a flour tortilla for a quick breakfast burrito. DELISH!!! I've had this for breakfast, made with vegitarian pizza toppings from our favorite pizza joint! So Yum!

WOK!!!

I've been pining in my mind for an electric wok for about a month now. About two years ago we ditched all of our nonstick cookware for aluminum and in most situations it is fantastic. Stir fry, fried rice, and other Asian fare has been another story. Everything sticks and it is hard to cook evenly when you have proteins, vegetables and sauces. So I've been thinking a wok is in order.

I've done my reseach and have decided that an electric wok is the way to go. I've got this one from West Bend on order and I can not wait for it's arrival!

Love Day

Just a few snippettes of Valentines Day in the Kallos house. Nothing major, but was so lovely. Peter set the beautiful table and I did the cooking.

Tyler's Ultimate Chicken Parmesan, Ultimate is truely an understatement! This recipe is outstanding, even good as leftovers for lunch the next day. Do yourself, and your loved ones, a favor and make this dish ASAP!

Giddy!

We've got snow in Georgia! I am totally giddy, I feel like a kid. It also makes me feel a bit homesick. Being from Wisconsin snow was always a bit a a nuisance, but having lived in the Atlanta area for the past 8 years I've had time to miss it.

Where does our food REALLY come from?

Our very good friend Traci put a post on her Facebook page last week that said "Food, Inc. Watch the movie from start to finish and pay attention to every tiny detail". It got my attention and I asked Peter to add it our NetFlix Que ASAP.
Traci is right, "watch this movie from start to finish and pay attention to every tiny detail"!!! I'm 100% serious, it will change your life......or at least the way you purchase and consume food. I spent the entire 90 minutes of this film in shock and sadness. Now, I was not totally naive to most of what the film portrayed but did not realize the full magnitude of government and big corporation involvement into what we eat. It is appalling at the very least.

Although changes will be hard and slow at times Peter and I are committed to changing our habits. I started by clearing our pantry (which I desperately needed to do anyway) and we are testing out a bag of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) produce today. The Gilby's will be sharing it with us and I know that they are just as excited. Meat will be a harder adjustment. Especially since Peter doesn't believe a meal is a meal with out some sort of meat. I will be doing research and perhaps be paying a little bit more for grass fed, antibiotic free meats but that's OK with us too. We have committed to drastically limit eating out to even out our food budget.

Get excited and educated about this. You will be happy that you did. Here are just a few websites to get you started!
